Matt Kirkegaard is a pioneering beer writer, podcaster, presenter and event host. Over two decades he developed a national reputation as the leading independent beer educator and advocate in Australia.
In 2014 Matt was named the first ever Australian Beer Writer of the Year when he was awarded the inaugural Australian International Beer Awards Media Trophy, and in 2017 he was presented at a Special Achievement award by the Queensland beer industry in recognition of his contribution to the industry.
In 2024 he was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Independent Brewers Association for his services to the industry over two decades.
Although he has stepped back from his role in the industry, he remains a passionate advocate for brewers and the positive place that beer, enjoyed responsibly, can occupy in our lives and our culture.
